Lifting Magnet Systems, below-the-hook lifting equipment

When it comes to lifting magnets, nothing is one-size-fits-all. There are various types and applications, each with its own benefits and shortcomings. Permanent industrial lifting electromagnets are some of the more commonly used options, and with good reason. Understanding the main features of this lifting magnet can help businesses make the decision on the best magnet for their application.

What is a Permanent Electromagnet?

Permanent industrial lifting electromagnets are below-the-hook lifting devices that offer more than 90 percent energy savings over standard lifting electromagnets. Standard lifting electromagnets require a constant flow of electricity to operate and remain magnetized. Permanent industrial lifting electromagnets only require a few moments of electricity to initiate magnetization and demagnetization. There is no power required during lifting, much like a standard permanent magnet.

Partial and Full Lifting Capacity

One notable feature of permanent industrial lifting magnets is their ability to operate under both partial and full lifting capacities. While placing the magnet onto a load and activating the MAG button, the magnets become partially magnetized. After lifting begins, permanent industrial lifting electromagnets will automatically become magnetized to their full lifting capacity. This allows a greater margin of lifting capacity.

Adjustable Lifting Capacity

Permanent electromagnets also allow for adjustable lifting capacities. There are many situations where the lift operator requires an exact amount of power to get the job done. For example, when metal sheets are stacked on top of each other, you need to be able to grab individual sheets without lifting the whole stack. Operators need this kind of control.

Locked Demagnetization

Safety is of utmost importance on job sites where permanent industrial lifting electromagnets are used. Once this type of magnet lifts a load, you won’t be able to demagnetize it until the load is placed down safely. Even if you purposefully use the demagnetization button, the magnet will remain on. The purpose of this feature is to make sure no load is dropped accidentally during the lifting process. The extreme weight of both the load and the magnet can cause serious injury or even death if dropped at the wrong time.

Safer Demagnetization

Another important safety feature of permanent industrial lifting electromagnets is their demagnetization process. In order to demagnetize and set down a load, the operator must press two buttons simultaneously. This forces the operator to give more thought to the process while reducing the chances of accidental demagnetism.

Wireless Control

The last important feature to cover is one of convenience - the wireless remote control. The ability to use a wireless control simplifies the lifting process and allows operators to stay out of harm’s way during operation.
